From babies to adolescents - health and paediatric nurses (m/f/d) care for and look after sick babies, children and adolescents in need of care. If the little patients are sick, they need a lot of attention, encouragement and help.
What are the tasks?
Health care and pediatric nurses take care of sick babies, children and adolescents. According to medical instructions, they treat wounds, administer medication, help with basic care or assist with medical examinations and surgical procedures. They inform parents and caregivers about care measures, comfort children in times of fear and pain, and take on organizational and administrative tasks. They keep patient files, schedule examinations or order medications and dressing materials.
What are the requirements?
In addition to an interest in medicine, the work as a health and children's nurse requires care and a sense of responsibility in order to provide the best possible care for the patients. You should be sociable, enjoy working with children and have a feeling for people, because empathy is very important when dealing with young patients and relatives. As working with seriously ill or dying patients is challenging, you need mental stability and resilience. In addition, you should have an independent way of working, discretion and a good physical constitution.
