Nursing assistant Provide physical and mental relief

Care assistants (m/f/d) support, care for, advise and guide people who need help because of a disability, illness or because of their age. They work closely with nursing professionals and can be active in various specialties.

What are the tasks?

Nursing assistants assist nursing staff and take over tasks in the medical and nursing area. For example, they assist with personal hygiene, help with food intake and dressing and undressing, bathe or transfer patients to another bed, or assist with activities such as walking. Depending on the area in which they are employed, they perform simple medical treatments such as taking blood samples or measuring pulse and blood pressure, take care of household chores, shopping and trips to the authorities, or clean and sterilize care equipment. They are also a listener and contact person for all kinds of concerns.

What are the requirements?

Social competence and empathy are required when dealing with patients, as people in need of care and the elderly require a great deal of help, motivation and often a conversation partner. In addition, the most important requirements include a sense of responsibility, patience, a good physical constitution as well as mental resilience and stability. You should also have an interest in medical and nursing activities and be able to work independently. Since the working hours are often tied to the needs of the person to be cared for and they want to be cared for around the clock, great flexibility in terms of time is often expected.
