Curative education nurse Supporting people with disabilities

Curative education nurses (m/f/d) accompany people with mental, physical and/or emotional disabilities of all ages with educational, practical and nursing support in coping with their everyday lives.

What are the tasks?

Curative education nurses provide nursing, practical and educational assistance to people with mental, physical and/or emotional disabilities of all ages. The aim is to strengthen their ability and independence and to enable them to lead as independent a life as possible in everyday life. Taking into account the type and degree of the respective disability, they motivate them to engage in suitable activities and promote the social behaviour as well as the personal development of the person being cared for. They support the educational or professional development, assist with basic care and carry out organisational and administrative work.

What are the requirements?

The basic requirements of curative education nurses include a sense of responsibility, empathy and communication skills in dealing with physically, mentally or emotionally disabled people. In addition, accuracy of observation and diligence, for example, in recognizing changes in the behavior of the persons to be cared for, as well as pedagogical skills and the ability to deal with conflicts are required. Psychological stability is also important in order to maintain a professional distance. Furthermore, creativity and creative skills are advantageous, for example, when doing handicrafts or making music together.
