What are the tasks?

Hotel specialists ensure that hotel guests feel well looked after and are happy to come back. They take care of the guest from the reservation to the reception to any complaints and work in all departments of a hotel. They work in restaurant service, in the kitchen and in housekeeping or prepare events. They are also employed in administration and in the commercial area and work there, for example, in accounting, warehousing, marketing or human resources.

What are the requirements?

A job as a hotel specialist is usually preceded by training, for which you should have at least a secondary school leaving certificate or the intermediate school leaving certificate. The most important basics of the profession include customer and service orientation as well as a willingness to make contact. The joy in dealing with people as well as a always friendly appearance opposite the guests is expected. A high degree of flexibility is also necessary in order to adapt to the respective tasks and work situations when working in the areas of restaurant service, kitchen, administration or reception. In addition, the ability to work in a team is required, for example in cooperation with the kitchen and house staff.
