During the training as a hotel specialist (m/f/d), you learn how to plan work processes in the hotel, how to look after and advise hotel guests and how to ensure their well-being with hospitality and good service.

What are the tasks?

Hotel specialists ensure that hotel guests feel well looked after all round. They take care of the guest from the reservation to the reception to any complaints and work in all departments of a hotel.

During the 3-year apprenticeship, you will therefore get to know the different areas of the hotel. In general, you get an impression of the following activities:

  • Catering for hotel guests
  • Work at the reception desk, including greeting and assisting guests, check-in, check-out.
  • Clean room
  • Planning events and special events
  • Manage staff assignments, order goods and write invoices

What are the requirements?

For the training as a hotel manageress (m/f/d) you need at least a secondary school leaving certificate, better still the secondary school leaving certificate. It is important that you are willing to take on early and late shifts and also work on weekends and holidays.

The most important fundamentals of the profession include customer and service orientation as well as a willingness to make contact. The joy of dealing with people as well as a friendly, confident manner towards the guests is taught. For this, one should be sociable in advance and have a friendly charisma. In addition, the ability to work in a team is required, for example, in cooperation with the kitchen and house staff.
