An apprenticeship as a roofer lasts 3 years. Legally, no specific school education is required, but most companies expect at least a secondary school diploma. Roofers have a good physical constitution and manual dexterity. Particularly important at work are circumspection, surefootedness and a head for heights. As a roofer, you work outside in wind and weather, sometimes at airy heights.
