Painter and varnisher Come clean

Painters and varnishers (m/f/d) paint, paste and varnish. They give ceilings, floors or facades a new coat of paint and use various techniques to do so. During their training, they can already specialise in one of five areas.

What are the tasks?

Painters and varnishers check substrates such as metal, wood, plastic, concrete or masonry, prepare them for further treatment and derust, prime, plaster or wallpaper them. They mix paints and varnishes, design surfaces and make living space homely. They renovate, maintain and carry out plastering, insulation and drywall work. They also design lettering and signs and (re)construct ornaments and stucco. The tasks of a painter and varnisher differ depending on the chosen specialisation.

What are the requirements?

Depending on the specialisation (finishing technology and surface design, building and corrosion protection, energy efficiency and design technology, design and maintenance as well as church painting and monument preservation), different demands are placed on painters and varnishers. However, the basic requirements include care, accuracy and skill when applying coats of paint or designing plaster and stucco surfaces. In addition, a sense of aesthetics is required when selecting wall decorations or wallpaper designs and a service-oriented manner when advising customers.
