The job title electrician (m/f/d) has been replaced by electronics technician. Already during the training, it is possible to specialize in one of the three fields of information and communication technology, energy and building technology or automation technology.

What are the tasks?

Electronics technicians design, install, maintain and repair electronic devices and systems of all kinds. Depending on the specialisation, they work in the fields of energy and building technology, automation technology or information and telecommunications technology. Here they are responsible for the design and installation of electrical components and systems as well as their safety devices. They also test electrical systems, rectify and repair faults, hand over new systems to users and provide operating instructions.

What are the requirements?

The basic professional requirement of an electronics technician includes manual and technical understanding. You must be able to understand complex systems and circuit diagrams and therefore have logical and visual thinking skills. You need good maths as well as physics skills and an understanding of IT. In addition, prudence, care and a sense of responsibility are essential when working on live components and voltage connections. In addition, the job description requires flexibility for possible on-call duty.
